-
- My point was... CBM didn't think about speed a bit when designing
- the grpahics.library.

-
- : Rubbish. Read again. C0d3rz are the loudest to _refuse_ to use system
- : code.
-
- I wonder why they refuse to use the system for their realtime work?
- Ever windered yourself.. or just "coder = lame" come to your mind and
- you stop analysing the their situation.
-
- : > I blame everything on CBM managment :)
-
- : Yeah, that's the most easy way. C0d3rz are sooooooo perfect and if
- : it weren't for the evil CBM management they could rule the world.
-
- Yes, if it wasn't for CBM management the amiga demo coderz would have
- been the uncontested demo scene rullers :)
-
- I blame CBM for the amiga death, and the status of the amiga when they
- folded. The amiga future was not in some coders hand... it was in CBM
- managment hand, and they chocked it to death.
-
- But fell free to think its the demo scene and part of the game scene
- that killed your beloved.

-
- : Shadow-of-the-beast does not run on any GFX card. Poking hardware does
- : not work on other hardware.
-
- Yes... but what I tryed to say i... are you mad that you cant play games
- design for ECS or AGA on a third party PC type based gfx card?
-
- : > So give me the excuse then why the A4000 is fited with a chipset with
- : > a ECS emulation,
-
- : Because they wanted game sales. They were realistic enough to see that
- : c0d3rz would still bang the hardware. BTW, the ECS "emulation" is just
- : a minimum effort as AGA is mainly an extended ECS. If you make the
- : software not use the extensions you have ECS more or less.
-
- Well, if they really did think that they went totaly off the right track.
- (From cbm) spend alot of R&D and time to make a chip compatible with ECS,
- and do this because of HW hitting games, but not releasing HW info.Smart
-
- A much better aproach: CBM 1 year before the A3000 come out warn that
- "next generation of machine will not sport a compatible chipset"...
- If the game house want to write a game like populous, he use the OS and
- poof it work on the full amiga line... or decide to port the latest arcade
- craze, and uses the lowlevelgfx.library of the machine with all the machine
- specific extention without caring if the function he uses will be emulated
- on this or that gfx card (probably then GFX cards would not have existed
- anyway)
-
- : > This is concerning: "CBM R&D was delayed because of coders"
-
- : Right. It exactly proves my point.
-
- The point is clear that CBM was the ONLY one involved in
- releasing crap because of some utterly stupid managment decisions (most
- probably money... cost/revenue/sale price per unit)
- You said yourself ECS coder work did not work on the A4000, why would
- CBM do all that R&D to update ECS and work around bad coding practice
- to make that ecs+ (AGA) compatible when nothing work on it.
-
- LEts blame the coders, "its coder
- fault that we are taking so long to update the amiga HW, we could have
- give you super neat HW, totaly dreamy, you would have LOVED it... and
- its ready! , but, sorry, because of coder bad programing practice we
- need to keep compatible with them so we are updating ECS , and its taking
- us alot of effort and time.. dam you coders" ...
- Or maybe newtek presured CBM to have a videotoaster compatible machine? :)
-
- But think what you like... from history, its not the coders fault but
- CBM alone.
-
- : > You dont kill the OS you put the OS to Sleep,
-
- : You can't put the OS to sleep, simply because you don't know the OS.
- : You might know the OS in a common state on common hardware
- : configurations. That's all. And since even that isn't documented
- : the c0d3rz fail to do even this regularly.
-
- Yes, thats why CBM (<) should have included a sleep function. Read
- what I say from the begining, this is getting silly.
-
- : > But this wont fix anything... AT need to write a low level effienct
- : > optimized library for multimedia,
-
- : This is called AmigaOS. Believe it. And don't say "multimedia" when
- : you mean "hacker's joy to be a nuisance".
-
- Nope, the amiga OS is not here at all for realtime 2d...
- The amigaos is FAR from delivering what I need from the amiga HW.
-
- : > They do... their is plenty of programmer around that know C,++ and the OS.
-
- : And the first thing they do is to remove it, without thinking, without
- : trying, with the knowing smile on the lips that they are perfect.
-
- : I can see the result in more or less every game.
-
- CBM made it a standart to hit the HW... Its the amiga way, CBM after
- changing its mind never offered a viable solution. No the OS is not in
- 'most' case.
